Part of the international research on Covid-19 takes place in Lübeck – in the recently finished Biomedical Research building (BMF). Instead of working in closed-off studies the researchers can be seen behind a giant display window.
The sculptural, striking structure of exposed concrete consists of the entrance platform, which is detached from the ground, and a cantilevered roof construction. Floor-to-ceiling glazing in between reflects the surroundings and adapts their colours.
The new building for the Sciences at Universität zu Lübeck is a component for the development of the university campus towards a hub of modern life science.
To handle resources responsibly, that is, to reclaim materials from the product cycle and feed them back to a new cycle, is the clear-cut objective of the researchers at the IWKS.
