We are very happy about winning 1st prize in the competition for the new Local Court Building in Bitburg!
Assessment of the jury:
The new three-storey building of the local court is positioned in the city like a standalone pavilion. A square laid out on the south side naturally leads from the public street to the entrance. The outdoor areas allude to the green of the public gardens (“Bürgergärten”). The forecourt lends itself as a short-term waiting and communication zone and, like the parking spaces, is embedded in the garden.
All in all, the building communicates a great openness and credible sustainability in keeping with the zeitgeist.
