On 28 September, the new building for the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS in Hanau was handed over to the researchers with a symbolic presentation of keys.
The Fraunhofer IWKS stands for the responsible use of resources. For a use of resources — not consumption. Recovering recyclable materials from a product cycle and reintroducing them into a new cycle — that is the aim of research.
In the new building, all functions are brought together along a research road. The compact building ensures short distances for good orientation and places for informal communication and spontaneous meetings in the centre. Spatial density, generous rooms extending over several storeys, along with a wide variety of connections to the outside world and daylight in the interior, contribute to an identity-generating working environment.
