At this year’s Rosenheim Window Days, one of the most important industry events for window, door, and facade technologies, our partner Dana Bilek delivered an engaging technical presentation. The annual event serves as a platform for dialogue between research, industry, and architecture—a place where innovations are showcased and future-oriented topics are discussed.
In her presentation, Dana Bilek showcased our project for Merck in Darmstadt, the Translational Science Center. The TSC is a fascinating example of how architecture, technology, and sustainability can be harmonized. Together with Schindler Fenster + Fassaden GmbH (facade construction) and SUNOVATION GmbH (PV supplier), the building was examined from various perspectives: from the architect’s, the facade contractor’s, and the photovoltaic specialist’s viewpoints. Particularly impressive was the insight into the innovative element facade featuring a wood-aluminum construction. This combines natural materials with modern technology: curtain-wall shading elements with integrated PV modules not only create an aesthetically pleasing facade but also actively contribute to energy generation and sustainable building operation.
The interplay of disciplines—from the architectural vision to intelligent energy integration and precise craftsmanship—impressively demonstrated the potential of interdisciplinary collaboration.
