The jury of the German Design Council has awarded the WindLab at the University of Oldenburg and the DLR research building in Stuttgart the distinction “Special Mention”. We are very pleased that both nominated research buildings were distinguished with the German Design Award 2019!

A timeless, modern design that meets the demands of a densely networked scientific working method and simultaneously subtly reflects the field of research with its striking detailing.
Jury statement WindLab
The metal façade lends the building a technical, almost futuristic character and thus comprehensibly emphasises the core competence of the institution accommodated in it. A nice detail are the hinged windows, which, when closed, disappear invisibly in the façade surface, making the building appear even more monolithic.
