The 19th Venice Architecture Biennale, under the theme \u201cIntelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.\u201d The German Pavilion presents the exhibition concept STRESSTEST, curated by the Technical University of Braunschweig (Nicola Borgmann, Prof. Elisabeth Endres, Prof. Gabriele G. Kiefer, and Prof. Dr. Daniele Santucci).<\/p>\n
As hammeskrause architekten, we are delighted to be part of this dialogue. Two of our projects are featured as part of STRESSTEST and illustrate how architecture comes into play in the context of the exhibition:<\/p>\n
New Isotope Laboratory Building, University of L\u00fcbeck<\/p>\n
The new building is completely enveloped by a uniform structure of semi-transparent industrial profile glass, which lends the building a diffuse light atmosphere while also acting as a climate-regulating layer. This creates an architectural response to overheating and impervious surfaces that, grounded in science and perceptible through atmosphere, demonstrates how built space can actively counteract climate stress.<\/p>\n
\u201cLight & Schools\u201d Physics School Laboratory, University of Hamburg<\/p>\n
The single-story structure combines transparency with natural shading, which regulates heat and enhances the quality of the environment. The integration of vegetation demonstrates how architecture responds technically, spatially, and atmospherically to climatic stresses and provides a concrete answer to the questions posed by STRESSTEST regarding the climate-resilient city.<\/p>\n
We view the inclusion of our projects in this international discourse as a significant recognition of our commitment to forward-thinking, climate-resilient architecture, and at the same time as an incentive to continue steadfastly on this path.<\/p>\n
