The interdisciplinary research is aimed at developing a new kind of nano photonic quantum sensor, in order to pioneer the advancement of sensitivity, specificity and energy efficiency in sensor technology. The sensors will use and combine recently developed principles of quantum physics and nano photonics.

For the diverse research activities the new building, with its footprint of about 36 x 72 m, comprises high-precision laboratories, cleanroom facilities, laser laboratories, laboratories for physics, chemistry and biochemistry, offices and communication spaces along with their attached technical and auxiliary spaces.
